CIPE PINELES

This book spread was realized as part of the course 2D Design Practice at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology under the guidance of Professors Anna Eichler and Olga Kulish. It was created to be part of a larger book project, for which students researched and created spreads for various graphic designers. The graphic designer I chose to highlight was Cipe Pineles.

The short text was written by me after research on her career. The illustration is gouache on paper, with the spread the young girl is working on being a reference to one of Cipe Pineles's most iconics works, a painting created for the pick your potato spread featured in the February 1948 run of Seventeen magazine.

Below is the initial sketch for the spread, which I created digitally, before moving the process onto paper and getting out the gouache paints.
